Playing with Poetry: Children's Creative Writing Workshop
Saturday 3 October 2026 at 10:30AM
Colchester Library
Event Description
Poetry doesn’t have to rhyme! In this fun hour-long workshop for writers aged 7 to 11, we’ll explore sounds, images and forms to come up with funny, thoughtful and surprising poems – and if you like, you’ll even have the chance to perform yours at a mini recital at the end of the session.
This workshop is part of Colchester Library’s autumn creative writing programme for young writers. This series of workshops for writers aged 7 to 11 and 12 to 17 takes a fun, hands-on approach, led by creative writing tutor Daisy Jones.
Each session stands alone, so you can come to just one, or as many as you like. All materials are provided and no previous writing experience is required – just bring your imagination! All workshops are free, but places are limited and booking is essential.
