Event Description

Why did crime fiction become so popular between World War 1 and World War 2?  Apart from Agatha Christie, who were the outstanding writers of the period?  This talk explores this fascinating social and political era, discusses the historical roots of the crime fiction genre, how it developed and why it remains so popular.

This talk ties with with our Agatha Christie exhibition.

Seona Ford developed an early interest in crime fiction after meeting Dorothy L Sayers in Witham.  She is currently Chair of the Dorothy L Sayers Society.  She is also a member of the Margery Allingham Society, who was another crime writer living in Essex.
